Accommodation

After a long trip to the west coast of Canada to start your sea kayaking trip you’ll find a relaxing refuge when you arrive at our acreage accommodation in the Alberni Valley. With the Beaufort Range out our front door and great views of Mt. Arrowsmith out the back, you’ll enjoy yourself while you get your gear ready.

Recreational walking, running and mountain biking trails are 2km away giving access to the Log Train Trail, our local rails to trails. It can get really hot in the Alberni Valley during the day, which is why we love it here. We have air conditioning but in the evening we open the doors and windows and the cooling evening breeze off the Pacific Ocean cool the valley. Only once in a blue moon do we run the air conditioning at night.

We have room for a maximum of 8 guests at our place – no exceptions. Our trips can accommodate up to 12 per group. We can help the other 4 guests find comfortable accommodation in Port Alberni. Our place is no more than 15 minutes from anywhere in the Alberni Valley, including Sproat Lake.

Blake or a host will be there to meet you and help orient you to the house. You’ll also be given your dry bags and and orientation to the gear and food. We’ll work through the pre-trip checklists like a pilot checks over their airplane before a flight. We recommend having a couple of people specifically handle the sea kayaking & camping gear, and a couple of other people handle the kitchen gear and food bags.

We use our acreage to prepare and pack the gear and food for your trip.

If guests would like us to take care of the the hotel accommodation, we will book it for you. At your time of booking, we can help you pick an accommodation provider that meets your specific needs. You will pay the lowest price available and this will be confirmed by the accommodation provider.

When you are on your trip with us, you can leave your vehicle at our acreage in Port Alberni. Any valuables, luggage and electronic devices can be left inside our house. You can leave your suitcase and extra gear in your room. No one else will be using it during your sea kayaking trip. Any kayaks, bicycles, stand-up paddle boards, etc can be stored in our locked shop.
