Batstar Sea Kayak Outfitters is owned & operated by Blake Johnson.
Blake has his Bachelors of Science from the University of Alberta and his Sea Kayakers Educators Certificate from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). He has spent most of his life bicycling & hiking and in the early 90’s discovered the joys of sea kayak touring. He has kayaked many beautiful locations on the coast of British Columbia and has logged hundreds of kayaking days as a guide.
Blake’s wife Rhonda grew up in a family that spent most of their spare time out discovering the joys of nature. Both of her parents are nationally renowned naturalists and outdoor educators and she inherited their passion for the outdoors. She has her BA, MBA and a law degree, all from the University of Alberta.
Rhonda and Blake were both actively running the company for over a decade and when our daughters got to high school, Rhonda started practicing law again, first in Port Alberni and now back in as a partner in an Edmonton firm. She specializes in Wills and Estates helping high net worth clients with complex estate planning matters. She’s licensed to practice in both Alberta and BC.
Cassia is in Science and Annika just starting Agriculture at the University of Alberta. Cassia guided with Blake for a couple of years in the Deer Group Islands.
